Louis Tomlinson will not face charges over an altercation that took place last month involving a photographer. The singer was filmed in a scuffle with a paparazzo, who was attempting to take pictures of Louis and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder as they made their way through Los Angeles International Airport following a holiday in Las Vegas.

Louis, 25, was arrested following the fight, and bail was set at £16,000. Prosecutors said the One Direction star would have to wait up to a year to find out about the charges, however it's now looking unlikely he will face legal action. A spokesperson for LA City Attorney's Office said: "Each of the parties will be interviewed regarding the incident and advised of the law and ways to avoid similar incidences in the future. Typically there is no further action taken by our office after the hearing. We do reserve the right to file charges up to one year from the date of the original incident should additional information or future actions require additional measures."

The hearing will take place at the end of April. At the time of the incident, a lawyer for Louis said photographer Karl Larsen had "provoked" his client. Lawyer Martin Singer said: "This is not the first or last time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity. While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defence."

The 25-year-old has had a difficult few months after losing his mum Johanna Deakin to cancer back in December. Speaking about her sad death, Louis told the hosts of SiriusXM Radio: "It's not something that I feel 100 per cent comfortable talking too much about, but just quickly, when I first found out the news I kind of did want to throw the towel in. But it was my mum who said to me that I've just got to keep going. She told me very sternly that she wanted me to."
