David Beckham loves illustrating his body and boasts a collection of over 40 designs. And it seems that the ink addiction has rubbed off on his oldest son, Brooklyn, who recently went to get his first tattoo with his dad in tow. Days later, the 18-year-old was seen going back to get a second design. David's tattoos are notoriously known for their significant meanings, from illustrations by his children to paying ode to his mum and dad – aww. Meanwhile, Victoria also has her fair share, although they have been seen fading in recent years as she has embarked on her new role as an established fashion designer. Take a look through their family album of designs, and find out what they mean.
Brooklyn's first tattoo
Brooklyn went along with dad David to get his very first tattoo, documenting the experience to his fans on Instagram. The 18-year-old chose to get his tattoo at the Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles, and was inked by its owner Mark Mahoney. "Honoured to have my first tattoo done by dad's friend Mark Mahoney," Brooklyn told his fans. "Thank you so much Mark x just like dad's," making reference to David's similar design of a Native American on his torso.
A photographer's work
In the same week, budding photographer Brooklyn got a camera design on his left bicep. This time, the tattoo was done by Los Angeles-based artist Dr Woo. David's eldest son gave fans a clear look at the inking as he took to Instagram to write: "Great second tattoo by @_dr_woo_."
Harper's illustration
Not many children are allowed to draw on their parents, but David made the exception when it came to his little girl. Back in 2015, the then four-year-old's adorable handiwork was inked onto the back of her dad's hand: a smiling stickman next to a love heart.
Buster
Known affectionately to his parents as Buster, Brooklyn’s namesake is etched on the right side of his dad’s neck.
David's ribcage is full of family tributes to his loved ones...
A note from his boys
The sweet handwritten message: "We love you Daddy," is etched across David's ribcage, designed and created by his three adoring sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.
Mum and Dad
David is notoriously close to his family, in particular his parents, David and Sandra. The doting son made sure to include their names on his body in a touching tribute.
1975
Etched just above his tattoo dedicated to his parents, David's year of birth is boldly stamped in neat numerals.
Pretty Lady
Just above his 'Harper' tattoo, the besotted father added another tribute to his daughter on her fourth birthday, adding the words 'Pretty Lady', complete with a tiny love heart on the side of his neck.
Harper
David dotes on his little girl, and had her name illustrated on his chest when she was born back in 2011 to mark the birth of his only daughter.
Victoria and the hummingbird
On the same hand as the 99 tattoo, the devoted husband has Victoria's name boldly engraved alongside a hummingbird.
99
The year 1999 was certainly a good one for David. Not only was it when he married his beloved wife, Victoria, but he triumphed in his football career too, helping then team Manchester United to win the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League - phew!
Artwork as body art
Last year, David took to Instagram to showcase his then-latest design down the side of his leg. The tattoo is of artist Pierre Auguste's famous painting The Storm. Writing to his followers, the footballer said: "Great new piece from Mark Mahoney at shamrock.... Always nice to sit and listen to marks conversation for 5 hours whilst watching him work... True artist."
David's boys
All three of David's sons have their name commemorated on their dad's back between his first ever tattoo of a guardian angel.
Dedications to Victoria
Down the side of David's arm lie numerous tributes to Victoria, including her name written in Sanskritt and 'I am my beloved and my beloved is mine' transcribed in Hebrew.
Victoria's fading design
Victoria has been seen removing her tattoos in recent years, reportedly not wishing to grow old with them. Her Hebrew tattoo down the side of her back matches David's, both meaning "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine."
Victoria's stars
Taken back in 2005 before the birth of her youngest daughter, Harper, the then mother-of-three had four stars on her lower back, representing each of her children and husband David. When her baby girl was born, the doting mum added a fifth to her collection.
David's initials
The fashion designer once had the initials DB on her left wrist, along with the words "Together forever, eternally," written in Hebrew, which marked the couples 10th wedding anniversary. However, the tattoos are now barely visable - with the star opting for a more 'professional' look as a highly established fashion designer.
The Beckham's wedding anniversary
On her right wrist, the mother-of-four once had the roman numberal VIII-V-MMVI representing 8 May 2006 – the date she and David renewed their wedding vows, along with the Latin phrase 'De Integro', translating to "Again from the start".
Last year while appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Victoria's wrist tattoos were barely visible
