Blake Lively has given fans a candid insight into motherhood, confessing she would do anything to protect her daughters James and Ines. The actress, who is married to fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, opened up about her maternal instincts as she spoke at Variety's Power Of Women event in New York on Friday. She told the crowd: "I would do anything to protect them. I would literally die for them without a moment's thought. I mean if you think of what you would do for your child, I don't think there's anything you wouldn't ask yourself."

The Gossip Girl star has previously been open about her approach to motherhood, telling Allure magazine: "I feel like I've figured out the most important thing to me, and everything supports that." Blake and Ryan - who met on the set of Green Lantern in 2010, and married two years later - welcomed their first daughter James in December 2014 and their second child in September.

Meanwhile, the mother-of-two has also recently opened up about protecting her children from unrealistic beauty standards, telling Refinery29: "What little girls are seeing isn't what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning - even though it's no less beautiful. There's this awareness of what they're going to be exposed to and what they grow up seeing. For me, it's important for my daughters to know that it's not real life. They're seeing me dressed up in all this hair and makeup, but they also see me without that. I want them to see both sides, because there is never just one side."
