David Beckham thanks family for support after winning PFA award

It's been an incredible few days in the Beckham household. David Beckham has shared his delight after he won the PFA award for Outstanding Contribution to Football at an event in London, on Sunday evening. Taking to his social media pages, the 41-year-old thanked his fans and family for their continued support over the years. "Truly honoured to receive the PFA Tribute Award," he wrote alongside a picture of himself with his parents and sister.

He added: "I've been lucky to win trophies and play in some incredible teams but it's special to get an Award from your fellow players. I wouldn't have fulfilled my dreams if it wasn't for my family so it's always nice when they can share an Award as well... #PFAAwards." David has managed to get an impressive 115 caps for England, he also captained the team at the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals. The special occasion comes less than a week after his wife Victoria was awarded an OBE from Prince William during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Victoria, 43, was being recognised for her services to the fashion industry.

After the ceremony she said: "It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I'm proud to be British, honoured and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge. If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things. I'm so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible." David took to his Instagram page to praise his wife, writing: "Today was a special day, this young lady was awarded an OBE and as a family we couldn't be prouder... A hard working woman, mother and wife... congratulations." The retired footballer, who is a proud father to Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, received his OBE from the Queen in 2003 for services to football.
