According to reports, Jesse Williams and his wife Aryn Drake-Lee have filed for divorce after five years of marriage. TMZ reported that the couple, who share two children – Sadie, three, and one-year-old Maceo – are said to have had an 'amicable' split and will be sharing joint custody of the children.

Although the pair have yet to speak out about the reports, they haven't been spotted together in the last year, last attending a public event back in January 2016 where they spent the evening together at the Art Los Angeles Contemporary Opening Night at Barker Hangar. The Grey's Anatomy actor also thanked her during his acceptance speech at the BET Awards in June 2016, saying: "Before we get into it, I just want to say I brought my parents out tonight. I just want to thank them for being here, for teaching me to focus on comprehension over career, and that they make sure I learn what the schools were afraid to teach us. And also thank my amazing wife for changing my life."

The pair originally met when she was a real estate broker, and he was a high school teacher, and wed in September 2012. They also co-founded the 'Ebroji' app, in which emojis and gifs can be used during texting. Fans of the star were shocked to hear the news, with one writing: "Jesse Williams and his wife are splitting up...how much worse can today get?" Another added: "Unlike the rest of you heathens, I'm definitely not happy about Jesse Williams and his wife getting divorced. Breakups make me sad."
