It's coming up to one year since Christina Grimmie's tragic death. And on Tuesday night's episode of The Voice, her former mentor Adam Levine took a moment to remember the late singer before he performed The Beatles hit song Hey Jude with his team. "God, I loved her so much," he told the audience. Turning towards Christina's family who were watching from the sidelines, the coach added: "I am talking to you guys specifically, I'm talking to everybody. I miss her."

"It is unfair that she's not here," he continued. "We are going to sing a little song tonight. I am going to be singing every word to her in her honor. So, thank you guys for being here. Christina, we love you." Last year, Christina - who had come third in the 2014 season of The Voice - was gunned down by a deranged fan during an autograph session after her concert in Orlando, Florida. The killer, Kevin James Loibl, 27, had gone to the gig armed with handguns and a knife to specifically kill the singer, police said at the time.

The gunman wounded Christina before her brother, Marcus, heroically leaped across the autograph table and tackled him. Shortly after her death, the Maroon 5 frontman was among a host of famous faces who took to social media to pay their respects to the aspiring singer. Posting a photo of himself with the star, he wrote: "Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie's death. Our hearts go out to her family."

Adam, 38, has since been involved in supporting Christina's family ever since her death. Her brother previously revealed that the star had paid for her funeral. In a Facebook post, he wrote: "I found out this morning that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away. In the same post, Marcus thanked fans for all their support following Christina's death - including the generous donations on a GoFundMe page set up by the singer's longtime manager Brian Teefey, who is also Selena Gomez's step-father.
