Johnny Depp delights fans at Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland

Visitors to the Disneyland resort in California had a huge surprise on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride when Johnny Depp appeared to chat to them – in full costume as Captain Jack Sparrow! Fans excitedly posted several videos which showed the actor addressing them as they sailed past him, and were quick to share their experiences.

Jack appeared in Disneyland

One person tweeted: "I seriously cannot believe I saw Johnny Depp at Disneyland tonight!! Best night ever!! #Disneyland #JohnnyDepp #PiratesoftheCaribbean." Another added: "I saw Johnny Depp. My life is complete HAPPIEST PERSON EVER!!! #johnnydepp #Disneyland." In one hilarious video, the star is heard trying to negotiate with attendees to let him into their boat, saying: "I need a way out! I would like to commandeer your ship. Everyone come into the water… I'll come into your boat! Hello! How do you do?"

Johnny has previously dressed up as the popular character to surprise fans at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and opened up about the experience during an interview on The Graham Norton Show. He said: "To go into a place where I've spent time, Great Ormond Street, I was the parent when my daughter was ill and it was… I've known darkness in my life but that was the darkest period ever… I've always done visits but after that the visits became more and more important because the kids bless them they're so strong and courageous but the parents are the ones who are slowly dying and to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to these people means everything in the world to me."
