Sir Elton John insists on making music comeback after being put in intensive care

He was recently put in intensive care after contracting a bacterial infection. And while he was forced to cancel his Las Vegas shows, Elton John has revealed he will be back touring in June. In an interview with The Sun, the 70-year-old insisted: "I'm not finished yet! I'm more interested in keeping going. I have so much more to do." Sir Elton, who shares sons Zachary, six, and Elijah, four, with husband David Furnish, is hoping to return to stage for his gig at Twickenham on 3 June.

Last week, it was reported that the British music icon became ill with the "potentially deadly" infection in South America, and returned to the UK for treatment. His management released a statement which read: "Thankfully, Elton's medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery." Sir Elton also released a statement about his health. He said: "I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well."

His partner David, 54, also shared a heartfelt Instagram post to thank fans for their well-wishes. "I’ve been overwhelmed by all the messages of concern and support for Elton and our family,” he wrote. “Thank-you so much to everyone for reaching out. He’s doing really well - following his Doctor’s orders and getting better every day. Elton will be fighting fit and back on stage in June! @eltonjohn." Elton will not be performing any of his scheduled concerts at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the next few weeks. He has been playing his specially-created Million Dollar Piano show at the iconic venue since 2011.
