Ryan Reynolds opened up about his wife Blake Lively, and how she helped him mend his relationship with his father before his death. Speaking to the popular photoblog Humans of New York, he said: "She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she's made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn't want to remember. She made me remember the good times."

Humans of New York shared a snap of Blake and Ryan on Instagram with the story, and fans were quick to praise his candour. One wrote: "Amazing. I love the both of them, such an inspirational couple." Another added: "They are so cute together! They make each other better." The Deadpool actor previously opened up about his childhood, telling Variety: "I have three older brothers. Our father was tough. He wasn't easy on anyone. And he wasn't easy on himself. I think the anxiety might have started there, trying to find ways to control others by trying to control myself. At the time, I never recognised that. I was just a twitchy kid." He continued to say how Blake helped him through his difficulties with anxiety. "The expectations [of starring in Deadpool] were eating me alive," he admitted. "Blake helped me through that. I'm lucky to have her around just to keep me sane."
