Former Union J singer George Shelley's sister is fighting for her life after she was hit by a car. Harriet Shelley, 21, is now in a stable condition after being placed in intensive care at a hospital in Bristol. The university student, who is studying for a degree in midwifery, sustained serious head injuries following the collision. Her mother Toni Harris has said no one is to blame, claiming her daughter was "in the wrong place, at the wrong time".

"She was hit by a car," Toni told The Sun. "She's very poorly but she's stable. Everybody at Southmead Hospital has been amazing, they have been working 24/7 to make sure she is alright. I would like to thank everyone in Clevedon for praying for our daughter. They have been holding church services, Bristol's Buddha centre has also been helping - everybody across different religions have been so amazing."

STORY: George Shelley accuses Union J of 'jealousy' as band confirms his exit

Harriet's famous brother George is yet to publically make a comment. The reality TV star found fame with his band Union J after they were formed on ITV's X Factor in 2012. Before he left the band last year, George finished as a runner-up in the 2015 series I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Unfortunately, the singer was dropped from his radio gig at Capital earlier this year. George co-hosted the show with fellow presenters Dave Berry and Lilah Parsons before Dave stepped down from his position.

Earlier this year, at the Brit Awards, George and Lilah were left stunned after Katy Perry stormed out of their red carpet interview. The American singer spoke to them about how much she loved Ed Sheeran, to which George responded: "Well we won't keep you too long!" However, Katy took it the wrong way and hit back with: "Oh, alright. I'm leaving! Fine, I'll leave!" Lilah then tried to wrap up the awkward situation, telling the star: "Katy Perry thanks so much for chatting with us. We're going to let you go." Unimpressed, as Katy walked off she yelled: "You're going to let me go? I'm firing you!"
