After making their red carpet debut together at the Met Gala this week, many were quick to heap praise on Selena Gomez and the The Weeknd's blossoming romance got the seal of approval from their legions of fans. But the biggest compliment of all came from her mother, Mandy Teefey. The Starboy hitmaker took to his Instagram page to post a picture of the lovebirds from the glamourous event. And his girlfriend's mother was quick to give her seal of approval, commenting: "Glowing, smiling, looking health and equal love. Mama is happy XO."
At the event, the duo appeared totally smitten, keeping close as they cuddled on the carpet. Selena, 24, oozed elegance in an off-white Coach gown, which highlighted her lean and slender frame perfectly. Meanwhile, The Weeknd, 27, cut a handsome figure in a smart black tie attire.

The couple started dating late last year, but news of their romance broke in January. Selena and The Weeknd were photographed kissing outside a restaurant in Italy as they waited for their cars. An insider told E! News: "They were there for three hours! Just the two of them. They came out and were so happy." After photos were published on TMZ, the Canadian artist's ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid, whom he split from in November, was quick to unfollow Selena on Instagram.

Shortly after, the exes reunited on the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion in Paris. After the show, Bella shared a runway photo of herself from her first VS show with the singer on Instagram. Attached to the photo she wrote "I can't believe it! I was smiling SO HUGE on the inside I promise!!!! The most fun and nerve racking experience of my life but I wish I could do it over and over and over again!!!!! Thank you @theweeknd for being the best and most incredible performer on the planet. You KILLED it, as always," before adding a heart emoji.
