Gary Barlow was the talk of Twitter this weekend, after he revealed his striking new look on the opening night of Take That’s Wonderland tour. Gary, 46, first sported peroxide blond hair back in the early nineties when the band were first starting out, and the front man decided to revisit the fun look once more for the Birmingham concert on Friday night. Gary’s blond locks certainly gave him a funkier appearance and the cool look sent his fans wild on social media.

On the singer’s Twitter page, one fan wrote: “Loving the blond hair,” while another commented: “What a night OMG love every second and what can I say about that hair, speechless.” One follower said: “He would look gorgeous with no hair! It’s growing on me the more pictures I see.” Over on Gary’s Instagram page, the star posted a photograph of himself singing on stage on Friday, writing: “It has begun! Thank you Birmingham.” There were more comments about his surprise new style, with one fan saying: “What hair Mr Barlow!!” and a second flattering him, “Sooooo in Love with your new style.”

Speaking to The Sun at the concert, Gary revealed the reason behind his transformation. He told the paper: “Vinyl’s back and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m taking it back to ’92.’ It was ’92 since I was blond and I thought, ‘It’s Wonderland. I can’t just walk on-stage with me old hairdo,’ so I’ve gone blond for this tour.” He also said that his wife Dawn, to whom he has been married for 17 years, thinks his shock new look signals a midlife crisis! Meanwhile, Gary’s fellow band members Mark Owen, 45 and Howard Donald, 49, stuck to their current styles for the show.
