The sister of ex-Union J singer and I’m a Celebrity star George Shelley has tragically died following a car accident just over a week ago. Harriet Shelley, 21, suffered head injuries after being hit by a car on 28 April. The midwifery university student was in a stable condition at Bristol’s Southmead hospital, before sadly passing away on Saturday night. A family friend confirmed the heart-breaking news to The Sun Online this weekend. Messages of condolences poured in for Harriet on both her and George’s Instagram pages. On Harriet’s page, a follower wrote: “RIP beautiful, taken far, far too you, fly safe.” Another said: “Rest in peace lovely girl. Absolutely gutted. Sending so much love to your gorgeous family.”

On George’s Instagram, the singer had posted a picture of a sunset. Next to the photograph he was inundated with words of sympathy for his loss. One follower told him: “So sorry for your loss George. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you through this horrible time.” Another wrote: “My heart breaks for you and your family. I’m so sorry for your loss x.” A third person simply said: “Sorry for your loss, shine bright Harriet.”
Shortly after the tragic accident happened, Harriet and George’s mother Toni Harris spoke about her daughter’s condition, saying no one is to blame, that her daughter was "in the wrong place, at the wrong time". Toni told The Sun: “I would like to thank everyone in Clevedon for praying for our daughter. They have been holding church services, Bristol's Buddha centre has also been helping - everybody across different religions have been so amazing."
George is known for finding fame in band Union J, who formed on ITV's X Factor in 2012. Before he left the band last year, George finished as a runner-up in the 2015 series I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Unfortunately, the singer was dropped from his radio gig at Capital earlier this year. George co-hosted the show with fellow presenters Dave Berry and Lilah Parsons before Dave stepped down from his position.
