Sir Bruce Forsyth is "back on his feet" after being hospitalised in March with a chest infection, his wife Wilnelia has revealed. Speaking to the Sun, Wilnelia shared an update on her 89-year-old husband's health, saying: "He's doing so much better, he's doing really well. Slowly, but we are waiting for the really hot weather so we can start taking him out. He's walking around now, slowly, but he is." Wilnelia, who has been married to Bruce for 34 years, was speaking as she attended the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards. She said: "I am a big foodie. I did a Cordon Bleu course a long time ago when I married my husband. He wanted to make sure I could cook. He sent me on the course. I am cooking lots of his favourite meals at the moment, which is helping."

Sir Bruce has suffered a series of health setbacks recently. In March, he spent five nights in intensive care after being rushed to hospital with a chest infection. He also had to be hospitalised in 2015 after a fall, and subsequently underwent surgery for two life-threatening aneurysms. Bruce and Wilnelia's only child together, son Jonathan Joseph - known as JJ - recently revealed his pride at how the former Strictly Come Dancing host has fought back against ill health.

"He's doing good now," JJ told the Mirror. "Before the [2015] operation, he was doing exercise twice a day. Every morning and night he would work out. He played a lot of golf, but when he had the operation that's when it all stopped, that's when he got ill. I think that is a lesson to us all – exercise is so important, but he's slowly got through it and I'm really proud of him."
