Liam Payne has revealed that he and his girlfriend Cheryl weren't always on the same page when it came to naming their son Bear. The One Direction singer, 23, admitted that he wanted a more "traditional" name while Cheryl, 33, preferred the more unusual monikers. "It was like an internal battle," Liam told radio show host Elliot Holman during a Total Access interview. "I wanted a more traditional name and she wanted a name that was more unusual and the reason she chose Bear in the end was because Bear is a name that when you leave a room, you won't forget."

Liam eventually came around to the name, saying: "And I like that. And you know what, now he is Bear. When I look at him, he's just Bear. At first, I'll be honest with you, I wasn't really having it. I was like, I'm not really sure. I don't really understand. But then now I look at him and he's Bear. It's mad. You become your name as you get older anyway."

It appears that Liam has also let slip his baby's unusual middle name – Grey. Fans, who met the singer, have been taking to Twitter in their droves to comment on the moniker, with one tweeting: "LIAM TOLD US BEAR'S MIDDLE NAME! IT'S GREY! BEAR GREY PAYNE." A second wrote: "He just talked about letting Cheryl name him and that when he looks at him now 'he's definitely Bear' and that his middle name is Grey."

Liam's revelation comes just days after the new dad admitted that he also calls his little boy 'Cub'. The Drag Me Down singer was speaking to fans in Chicago for a Q&A while promoting his new material Strip That Down. According to one Twitter user, Liam also said that baby Bear is "a mini version of him with Cheryl's eyes."
