When it comes to Bette Midler and her lookalike daughter Sophie Von Haselberg, the apple didn't fall far from the tree. The duo turned heads as they stepped out together for the 2017 Tony Awards on Sunday night, their similarities strikingly apparent as they posed for photographs on the red carpet. It was a big night for 71-year-old Bette, who won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Hello, Dolly!.

"I'm so privileged, I'm so honoured," the legendary performer said in her funny acceptance speech, which marked her first-ever non-special Tony win. "I hope I don't cry. Thank you to the Tony voters, many of whom I've actually dated…I'm so grateful for the outpouring of love and affection — I can't remember the last time I had so much smoke blown up my a**, but there's no more room!"

Sophie, 30, is Bette's only child from her marriage to German performance artist and actor Martin Von Haselberg. The couple tied the knot in December 1984 in a 2am, $45 ceremony, just six weeks after they first met – and they have remained together ever since. Speaking to People in 2014, just ahead of her 30 year wedding anniversary, Bette described Sophie as her "greatest accomplishment". She added: "I didn't do it by myself. My husband is probably the greatest father who ever lived. He's fantastic. He picked up the slack when I was on the road. He taught her a foreign language. He taught her how to cook."

Of her marriage, Bette shared: "I think the secret is giving each other a lot of lead and a lot of room and not being in each other's faces all the time." She said a successful partnership also requires "listening. Listening is very hard. And compromise. Compromise is hardest of all".
