13 Reasons Why reveals seven new cast members

13 Reasons Why series two is expected to land in 2018, with a total of seven new cast members announced! The drama, which is based on Jay Asher's 2007 novel of the same name, will consist of another 13 episodes to be aired on Netflix.

The hit TV show follows a teenage girl's perplexing suicide and a series of tapes that have been left to unravel the mystery of her tragic decision. It proved so popular last year that it received 3.5 million social volume impressions in the first week of its release. American actress Allison Miller, 31, will be playing the character of Sonya, who is described as a "smart and ambitious young litigator".

Allison appeared in one episode of General Hospital and the film Kings. The actress excitedly tweeted in response to a headline announcing the news: "Now I get to stop hiding what I've been up to recently!! Honoured to be a part of this discussion."

American actor Bryce Cass, 19, will be playing the character Cyrus. Netflix has described the character as "an edgy, cynical mischief maker who serves as an unexpected champion of the downtrodden".

Bryce has had previous acting experience in the films Battle Los Angeles, The Guardian and Line of Duty. The actor responded on Twitter to news of his newly adopted role by posting: "Fun stuff!"

Chelsea Alden, American actress and producer, will be playing the character of Mackenzie, Cyrus's sister. Netflix has described the character as "an artsy, witty girl who isn't afraid to speak her mind".

Chelsea is best known for her roles in an American Horror Story, Veep and The Ranch. The actress took to Instagram to share the news: "I don't think the word 'excited' even begins to express how I feel to be a part of season 2 of @13reasonswhy. HUGE thank you to my amazing team for making this happen, and to the show for wanting me to help tell their story."

Anne Winters will be playing "popular new head cheerleader" Chloe. The actress, 23, has had experience in both TV and film; she acted in ABC crime drama series Wicked City and films Sand Castles, Pass the Light, The Bride He Bought Online, and Mom and Dad.

The actress posted a photo on Instagram, with the caption: "FINALLY ANNOUNCED!!! I've been filming season 2 for a little bit now, CANT WAIT for everyone to meet CHLOE #13reasonswhy #netflix."

Kelli O'Hara will play the character of Jackie, who Netflix describe as an "advocate for victims of bullying."

The 41-year-old American actress is best known for her roles in Sex and the City 2, The Bridges of Madison County and Broadway productions including Peter Pan Live!

Aussie star Ben Lawson, 37, will play the character of Rick, Liberty High School's "beloved baseball coach". Fans will recognise the actor from romantic comedies No Strings Attached and A Funny Kind of Love. The actor has taken to social media to write: "Excited to share the news."

Samantha Logan, 20, will be known to viewers as Nina – a "well-respected track star" at Liberty High School.

Prior to her feature film debut in Detachment, Samantha had roles in TV series Gossip Girl and Law & Order: SVU.
