British reality star Scarlett Moffatt has taken to her Instagram account to post a before and after selfie in a bid to warn girls of the dangers of social media. The Gogglebox and I’m A Celebrity Star used a picture of her without make-up next to one of her heavily glammed up to show she is not as picture perfect as it looks in many of her photos.

The 27-year-old wrote alongside her post: “To all you young girls (and older ladies) out there don’t believe all you see on social media. This goes to show what make up and a filter can do ☺️ love who you are and don’t compare yourself to anybody else. As Dr Seuss once said.... Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. #love #instagood #makeup #filter.”
Scarlett is a huge fan of social media and has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram. One of her followers commented below the photo: “this is probably one of the best posts ever to go on social media,” with another adding “thank you for putting this message out there as it’s more important to be beautiful on the inside than anything else.”

Scarlett also took to the comments section of her Instagram post to say that she's keen for her younger sister to understand how social media works. "My little sister is only 11 & I always think it's important for her to understand social media is the us we want to show the world. Everybody has things they love about themselves and things they sadly want to change - but it's important to never compare yourself to others, we are beautiful in our own way."
Delivering such a hugely important message to her fans, it’s good to see that the Newcastle star has not let fame get to her head. Since her message appeared, many have heaped praise on Scarlett in the comments, with one follower calling her a role model.
