It's been a year since Jennie McAlpine and her husband Chris Farr tied the knot in secret in a Manchester registry office – and the pair marked their first anniversary in style! The Coronation Street star took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to post a photo from their celebrations during their holiday in Wales, which showed the pair dining out while holding onto some rather fancy champagne flutes embellished with flowers. The couple were in good spirits as they posed for the photo, with Jennie dressed in a low-cut black dress, and Chris looking smart in a navy short sleeved shirt. Jennie simply captioned the post with love hearts and a champagne glass emoji.

Jennie and Chris were married in a low-key ceremony at Trafford Town Hall, with only two witnesses present. The I'm A Celebrity star shared the news on Twitter afterwards, posting a photo of their wedding rings accompanied by the caption: "So we went to Trafford Town Hall earlier this week and had a bit of a special day." The couple are the proud parents to son Albert, who turned three when Jennie was in the I'm A Celebrity jungle. Chris was a huge support to Jennie during her time on the show, and managed her social media accounts, encouraging viewers to vote for her.

Jennie and Chris saw the New Year with Jennie's former Coronation Street co-star and good friend Suranne Jones, and her husband Laurence Akers. The four of them enjoyed a low-key night in watching Suranne on The Graham Norton Show. Suranne posted a photo taken that evening on her Instagram account, showing them all dressed in matching festive pyjamas. She captioned it: "45 minutes till midnight…so stuffed. Still eating."

The year was one of highs and lows for Jennie, who sadly lost her dad, Tom, in March. Jennie revealed that his passing had inspired her to take part in I'm A Celeb. In a heartfelt Instagram post - which she wrote just before leaving for Australia - she said: "As you may know I lost my wonderful, wise, funny, kind, guiding light of a Dad earlier this year." She added: "He always encouraged me to do things I didn’t know I could do. Try things that were difficult, do stuff that scared me, climb walls I might fall from. So when this opportunity came up, I had to say yes. I know that my dad would have said 'Yeah, go for it Jennie Wren. You can do it".
