Sam Bailey has revealed she was recently rushed to hospital following an accident at her home in Leicester. The former X Factor winner was left unconscious after she was hit by a ladder whilst trying to retrieve some luggage from her loft. Taking to her social media pages on Tuesday, the 40-year-old shared a picture of herself being transported in an ambulance. "So this was me tonight! Unconscious! Ct scan and after finding out my skull is in still intact I've decided I'm not going to go in the loft again," she told her fans in the caption.

Her Instagram followers immediately posted comments, with one concerned fan writing: "That must have been scary. Hope you feel better soon. Lots of hugs and love." Another said: "Hope you get better soon and there is no lasting problems to you." A third post read: "Hope you're ok hun. Not a good start to the year. Take care of yourself. Sending get well wishes." A spokesperson for Sam told HELLO! Online that the singer was not alone and that her husband Craig Pearson had called the ambulance. "She was knocked out cold and her husband called an ambulance who got her on a stretcher into hospital. She has been checked over thoroughly and has concussion so she is resting up at home." Sam, a former prison officer, also thanked fans for their well-wishes. "Thank you so much to everyone who has asked about me on social media, I am on the mend and resting up at home," she said. "I'm gutted to be missing panto and I hope to be back as soon as possible!"
