Spencer Matthews has come a long way in just one year! The reality show star, who rose to fame as the eligible yet untrustworthy bachelor on Made in Chelsea, is due to be married and is expecting his first child with Vogue Williams!
On Made in Chelsea, the reformed bad boy dated several women over the course of the show, including Caggie Dunlop, Louise Thompson and Lucy Watson – and the relationships didn't tend to end amicably! However, everything changed for Spencer when he met his future bride, Vogue Williams, while taking part in The Jump in 2017. After winning the reality show, Spencer and Vogue started dating, but remained coy when asked about their relationship, only confirming that they were "really close friends".
The loved-up couple seemed to confirm their relationship when they were spotted taking a trip to Disneyland Paris together, and later paid a visit to Vogue's hometown of Dublin. Their fans were then delighted to discover that Spencer had popped the question on the stage of the West End show The Lion King - the perfect proposal given their romantic Disney-themed first getaway together.

Spencer and Vogue confirmed the happy news that they were expecting their first child together to HELLO! Vogue said of the moment they found out the exciting news: "We were together when we did the test, on holiday in the South of France over Christmas, and we were just like, 'Wow'. Regardless of how long you plan it for or how long you’ve wanted it, it’s still like, ‘Oh my God!’ It’s such exciting news.'"
The TV presenter has previously spoken about wanting children, telling HELLO!: "My marriage broke up when what I really wanted in my life was children. I really worried about it and thought, 'I'm not married anymore. I'm probably never going to get the chance to have children.' All those things run through your mind." She then joked: "I don't worry about it anymore – I have a boyfriend now."
Spencer admitted that he was on the lookout for love when he started The Jump. Chatting to HELLO!, he said: "That's definitely not why I'm here but, you know, I'm always looking for love! If it was to ski into me or I was to trip up and fall straight into love's arms, I'd take it willingly. But no, that's not why I'm here." Speaking about which contestants he had his eye on, he admitted Vogue was at the top of his list. "I'm really, really good friends with Vogue at the moment, I do quite fancy her," he said. "I think Jade Jones is very attractive, a very cool girl. Caprice [Bourret] – I mean, come on."
Vogue Williams kept deliberately vague about their romance at the beginning on their relationship. Chatting to Fearne Cotton on Lorraine about the rumours that they were dating, she said: "Maybe [there is] a little bit of truth in the matter. You weren't expecting that answer! We were really close friends, we're just really close, really close friends and yeah, we've been getting on very well." The reality show star also congratulated Spencer on winning The Jump, writing: "I was so proud of him for doing that because he worked really, really hard. He thought he was brilliant at the start and then he sort of realised that Louis [Smith] was amazing. Louis was amazing at everything he did but Spencer pushed himself so hard, he deserved it, he definitely deserved to win."
Spencer seemed to confirm that the pair were seeing each other in an interview with TV3, in which he admitted that Vogue doesn't like to call their romance a relationship. He joked: "She doesn't like calling it [a relationship]. We've got a kid on the way, pretty much, impending nuptials, all sorts."
Vogue continued to play coy in a blog post for HELLO!, where she wrote about their trip to Disneyland. She said: "I think everyone in the world loves Disney, it's the best place in the entire world! I went there last weekend with four of my friends and we had the most amazing time. Spencer was one of the people in our group and a lot of people have been asking me about him but all I want to say about it is that we're getting on very well and we're really close. We all had a brilliant weekend together."
Vogue gushed about her relationship with Spencer ahead of their engagement back in October 2017, saying that she was "mad about" him. She told HELLO!: "There's loads of best things about my life. I just feel really happy and balanced at the moment. I have a great family and friends, I love my job and now I'm in a really good relationship with somebody that I'm mad about and we just get on brilliantly. Everything seems to have fallen into place for me this year."
The couple moved in together in October, with Vogue telling HELLO!: "When he gets back at the start of October, we are moving in together. I still have my own place right now. We have a place together where all my stuff is and all his stuff is, but he's away and I don't want to move in until he gets back. I feel like it's bad luck."
Spencer popped the question after a year of dating at The Lyceum Theatre in London's West End. In a statement, the 28-year-old said: "I've known Vogue was the one for a long time. We're very happy and in love. She's my best friend and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. The engagement had to be special, and as our first trip away together was to Disneyland Paris, it felt like the perfect fit. The Lion King is also one of the greatest stories of all time, so I figured that having just had a romantic evening watching it, she'd probably say yes!"
Vogue took to Instagram to share a stunning photo of her engagement ring, a four carat diamond worth an estimated £150,000, and posted a love heart and a diamond ring emoji next to the photo. Spencer shared the same photo, writing: "SHE SAID YES…" He revealed that he had designed the ring himself, and Vogue posted another snap of it, writing: "I can't stop staring... @spencermatthews you've found your calling in life, I want you designing all of my jewellery from now on."
Speaking about the ring design, Spencer said: "My friend Neil @duttsonrocks and I really enjoyed the journey of making this beautiful ring for my fiancée @voguewilliams... I loved designing it and believe it suits her perfectly... The countless trips to the workshop in Hatton Garden became worth it the moment she said yes!!!"
