Our hearts have been a little bit broken ever since Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman appeared to have a small spat over the future of Sherlock, with the latter claiming that the fun had gone out of the show due to the fan fervour surrounding the show. He told the Telegraph: "Being in that show, it is a mini-Beatles thing. People's expectations, some of it's not fun anymore. It's not a thing to be enjoyed."

Benedict then responded by calling the complaint "pathetic", explaining: "It's pretty pathetic if that's all it takes to let you not want to take grip of your reality. What, because of expectations? I don't know. I don't necessarily agree with that." Since we always thought they got along like a house on fire while playing Sherlock Holmes and John Watson on the BBC show – we are taking a look back at the co-stars who it turned out didn't quite get along with one another…

Will Smith and Janet Hubert

Things got so bad with Will and 'Aunt Viv' on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air that Janet was replaced by a different actress in season three. Speaking about their feud, Will previously said: "I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel Air Show, because I know she is going to dog me in the press. She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She's mad now but she's been mad all along. She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.'"

Teri Hatcher and the rest of the Desperate Housewives

Teri Hatcher had difficulties with her Desperate Housewives co-stars, including Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman. The feud was captured during an interview and photoshoot with Vanity Fair, where the magazine revealed that they were told they shouldn't let Teri into wardrobe first, and she shouldn't be in the centre of the shoot. The magazine's cover even read: "You wouldn't believe what it took just to get this photo!"

Lea Michele and Naya Rivera

The Glee co-stars might have been singing and dancing away together on the show, but behind-the-scenes it wasn't a secret that they did not get along. Writing her memoirs, Naya explained: "We are both strong willed and competitive - not just with each other but with everyone - and that's not a good mixture. As the show progressed… Santana moved from a background character to one with bigger plot lines and more screen time. I think Rachel - erm, I mean Lea - didn't like sharing the spotlight."

Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

Although they were the best of friends as Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, there was a very different story behind the scenes. Kim recently admitted Sarah "could have been nicer" during her interview on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, and eventually hit out at her former co-star after she sent condolences following the death of Kim's brother, writing on Instagram: "Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum

The Magic Max co-stars didn't get along during the filming, according to Alex himself. Chatting on Bret Easton Ellis' podcast, he said: "Channing Tatum does not like me. For many reasons. Many being my own fault." He admitted that he didn't pay rent on an apartment belonging to a friend of Channing, and that he forgot because his cousin had passed away. He said: "I should have just paid. I think he was looking for an excuse to not like me."

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

Although they eventually dated, it looks like Ryan and Rachel didn't like one another right away. In fact, it was the opposite. Speaking about their relationship in the early days, director Nick Cassavates said: "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?' I said, 'What?' He says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'"

Joan Crawford and Bette Davis

The feud between the two iconic actresses is now the stuff of legend, and was even the subject of the TV show (titled Feud, of course). The tensions began in earnest when the pair co-starred on Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, and made several comments about each other in the press. The drama between the pair peaked when Bette was nominated for an Oscar, and Joan arranged to collect the award on behalf of an actress who actually ended up winning, taking the spotlight from Bette.
