Last night, the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards saw crazy costumes and wild performances from the winners (we’re still humming Jennifer Lopez’s hits this morning). But while we can’t imagine our grandmother’s attending in the front row, one particular star didn’t mind spending the evening with her family. During the show, which was attended by big stars such as Madonna, Backstreet Boys, and Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande performed a rendition of God Is a Woman, and brought three very special ladies on the stage as she finished - her mother, grandma, and cousin. How sweet!

The 25-year-old star used an entirely female cast to perform the anthem from her latest album, Sweetener, and fans are already comparing the show to a feminist version of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper. She wore an all-gold ensemble with thigh-high boots, and in one move, the pop star sat in the middle of a long table surrounded by her dancers, echoing the famous work of art. When the song ended, she welcomed the powerful female members of her own family as she brought her mum, grandma, and cousin on stage for the final bow, while her brother Frankie and new fiance Pete Davidson cheered from the crowd. Ariane and Pete seemed perfectly loved up on the red carpet as they hugged and kissed - he must be one proud partner.

The pop star scored an impressive five nominations at the VMAs, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, ‘Best Cinematography’, ‘Best Visual Effects’, and ‘Best Pop Song’, which she won with No Tears Left To Cry. No wonder her family were proud of her then. She ended the night by thanking her fans with an extra sweet tweet, saying: “i love y’all so much u have no idea. thank you.”
