Susanna Reid left fans scratching their heads this week when she shared an incredible throwback photo. The Good Morning Britain host stunned her followers when she uploaded a snap of herself presenting BBC News 20 years ago – but she looks younger now than she did then! The 49-year-old was almost unrecognisable, wearing a lilac suit and sporting a short pixie cut and appeared to have a much sterner expression than we're used to seeing today. Captioning the photo, she wrote on Instagram: "Someone at TV Live unearthed my first national news bulletin on BBC TV. It was in May 2000 so there’s 20 years between these pictures. Rocking the Playmobil hair."

Susanna's followers were quick to express their shock over her more-youthful appearance 20 years on. One commented: "Crikey looks much younger now," while another said: "Blimey doesn't look the same person, looks younger and more attractive now." A third added: "Aged like a very fine and beautiful wine," while a fourth simply said: "You're like a female #BenjaminButton," referring to the 2008 movie in which Brad Pitt plays Benjamin Button, a man who suffers from a rare ageing ailment where he ages backward.

The former Strictly star's youthful appearance has no doubt been helped by her decision to adopt a healthier lifestyle. In 2018, Susanna quit drinking alcohol and in April 2019, she admitted giving up booze has transformed her skin and well-being. In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, she opened up about being sober. She said at the time: "My skin isn't perfect but it's clearer. And so is my head. I am sleeping better."

The mum-of-three continued: "I don’t have hangxiety. I don't miss for a minute that feeling of fizzing in your body in the morning, which meant I couldn't quite relax the day after a big night." Susanna first started her sobriety journey after a doctor's health warning about weight gain. Since then she has lost a stone and a half and "feels fantastic".
