British pop star Anne-Marie is known for her upbeat, cheeky vocals and empowering break-up songs. To kick off 2020 and to mark her return to music after almost a year, she's back with a new sure-fire hit that's all about self-love - and we're obsessed. The track, dubbed Birthday, tells the story of how the blonde bombshell plans to spend her birthday - by celebrating herself, of course!
The inspirational and catchy lyrics begin with "I’m another year older, I won’t cry about you anymore", before Anne-Marie goes to to describe she'll “dye [her] hair” and “wear that dress [she] can’t afford". The key strapline? "I'ma do what I like, I'ma eat what I want, I'ma kiss who I like." Spoken like a true Queen, if you ask us.
Anne-Marie looked pretty in pink in the Birthday music video
The bubblegum pink-inspired music video is directed by Hannah Lux Davis (who has previously worked with Ariana Grande), and shows Anne-Marie celebrating her birthday in a lavish location. Fittingly, her hair has been dyed a glorious shade of pink to match. Just like a modern-day Cinderella, Anne-Marie finds herself transported back to a more modest surrounding at the stroke of midnight, celebrating her birthday at home with friends.

The relatable star has long been an advocate for self-love and self-acceptance, which she made clear in her song Perfect To Me. As she plainly puts it, "I'm OK with not being perfect", and we love that she uses music to spread her message about empowerment.
