Alison Hammond has shared an emotional Valentine's Day tribute to her mother, who she revealed has passed away from liver and lung cancer. The This Morning star said her mum was laid to rest on Thursday, and posted two sweet photos of them together on Instagram in the heart-felt post.
"Today I dedicate Valentine's Day to my beautiful, wonderful mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer. Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of," Alison wrote.

Alison's emotional post was met with an outpouring of support from her fans and friends, including Loose Women's Stacey Solomon, who wrote: "I love you so much Ali." The former Big Brother star had previously given no indication of the sad loss on social media, and has spent the past few days in the Dominican Republic, where she had been filming for the new series of E4's Celebs Go Dating. Only a day ago she had posted a video promoting her role in the dating show, telling fans: "Coming soon to @e4grams."

The mum-of-one tends to keep her family out of the public eye, but occasionally shares photos with her son Aiden, 13. In October, Alison did post a sweet photo with her mum on Instagram, revealing that they had bumped into the singer Jamelia on a day out at a nail salon.
