The actress and mum was quick to spot just how difficult the pandemic lockdown was going to be on children, as well as students who were set to take part in their school performances.
But rather than lament that fact, she did something about it. First, Jennifer set up the #HeyJenLookatMe hashtag on Instagram encouraging young thesps to post footage of themselves doing whatever they were supposed to be doing on stage before the school closures.
Meanwhile, she and fellow star Amy Adams co-operated with Save the Children and No Kid Hungry to create @savewithstories, which helped raise money for children's support programmes by getting celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Reese Witherspoon and Meghan Markle to read children's books.
"Jennifer is the 'poster person' for kindness. Her goodness is relentless." - Victor Garber, Jennifer's Alias co-star and longtime friend
Mark Shriver, Senior Vice President, U.S. Programs & Advocacy, Save the Children, described Jennifer as being a "pretty unique human being," telling HELLO!: "There’s no stronger advocate for America's kids than Jennifer Garner.
"For the last 12 years, I've had the privilege to travel with Jen all over the United States visiting families with babies and very young children in her role as a Save the Children Trustee.
"We have been in childcare settings and Early Head Start and Head Start centres. More often than not, Jen is on the floor, rolling a ball to a growing toddler or cosying up and reading a favourite book.
"Jen is just as comfortable listening to a mum or playing with a child as she is in corridors of power; she's delivered moving testimony on Capitol Hill and in statehouses across the nation.
"Jennifer is more than just kind; she is friendly and generous, and she is a great listener who cares deeply. She works harder than anyone I have ever met. When you put that all together, well, that's a pretty unique human being."
Jennifer's Alias co-star and longtime friend Victor Garber also rightly put it when he told HELLO!: "Jennifer is the 'poster person' for kindness. Her goodness is relentless. It's almost shaming. She makes me a better person and does it without any agenda. I am honoured to be in her aura."
