Serena Williams is a boss, one of the greatest tennis players of all time and enormously generous. When she won the ASB Classic in New Zealand at the beginning of this year, she donated her prize money to the Australian bushfire relief fund.
And her Serena Ventures, which she founded in 2014, invests in young, diverse and empowering companies and helps take them to the next level, as well as mentors their creators.
''Being kind and humble is the ultimate beauty.'' - Serena Williams
In the summer, she teamed up with some companies to provide 4.25 million face masks to schools, as well as providing educational materials to 115,000 academic institutions across the United States.
Serena is also teaching the importance of kindness to her daughter Olympia, three, making her understand that being kind is the ''ultimate beauty''.
''When I tell her she's beautiful, I want to teach her that she's beautiful from the inside. Giving is beauty. Being kind and humble is the ultimate beauty.''
Serena certainly proved that after she lost the U.S. Open to Naomi Osaka back in 2018. As the pair stood for the trophy presentation, the crowd loudly booed and jeered, protesting her win.
Clearly upset by the reaction, Naomi covered her face with her cap, only for Serena to put her arm around her shoulder and address the crowd.
''I just want to tell you guys she played well, and this is her first Grand Slam. I know you guys were here rooting, and I was rooting too, but let's make this the best moment we can. We'll get through it.
"Let's give everyone the credit where credit's due. Let's not boo anymore. We're going to get through this and let's be positive. So congratulations, Naomi. No more booing.''
