The 2021 Formula 1 season has proven to be one of the most exciting in years, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen frequently trading places as they battle to be crowned champion.

But while the sport is high-octane, off the track some of its stars enjoy a more relaxed personal life, which they share with their thousands of social media followers. Check out the Instagram handles of the biggest stars below…

Lewis Hamilton

The reigning F1 champion can be found at @lewishamilton and while the superstar shares plenty of trackside shots, he also allows fans a glimpse into other aspects of his life including his eye-catching fashion and training routines. The star also uses his page to highlight social issues that are important to him like racial justice, LGBT equality and veganism. And fans of his pet dog, Roscoe, won't be disappointed as the 36-year-old posts plenty of shots of his pet pooch! According to research by Grange, Lewis' following is so large that he could earn between £33,784 and £56,306 for a sponsored post.

Valterri Bottas

Valterri Bottas posts from @valterribottas, with the Finn keeping most of his social media focused on his professional life. Expect to see plenty of trackside photos of him both in and out of the car. The star also shares insights into his other sporting passions, including cycling and during the winter break often shares photos from his native Finland, showcasing the large amounts of snow that the country gets.

Max Verstappen

The current leader of the world championship uses @maxverstappen1 as his Instagram handle and alongside trackside photos, he has also shared insights into the epic summer break he had this year, complete with jet skiing. He also posts photos of himself training hard, and of his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, and his family.

Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez's Instagram handle is @schecoperez, and like the other drivers most of his feed is dedicated to his career. However, the Mexican does still share the occasional photo of his beautiful family, consisting of wife Carola Martinez, son Sergio Jr. and daughter Carlota.

Fans of Charles Leclerc can find him posting from @charles_leclerc and outside of his career, fans can expect posts consisting of his glamorous holidays during his time off, including one recent trip to Mykonos, and several shots of his girlfriend, Charlotte Sine. He's also shown his daredevil side with some posts of him surfing and skydiving.

The sport's resident 'Smooth Operator' can be found at @carlossainz55 and he frequently gives fans an insight into his fitness routine – even the unorthodox exercise of lifting pet dog, Piñón. Outside of F1, the Spanish driver is clearly a fan of the water with plenty of shots of him boating or relaxing in the waves.

If you want to follow Lando Norris, you can find him on @landonorris. The driver's feed has evolved from posting Formula 1 memes to focusing on his professional career, as well as some of his other sporting interests like golf. In one post, Lando looked like he could've been the next James Bond, looking super suave at Wembley Stadium.

The 'Honey Badger' himself Daniel Ricciardo posts from @danielricciardo with the vast majority of his feed dedicated to his F1 career. Fans who want to know about his interests outside of F1 can frequently listen to the music that he enjoys, as he shares three tracks every week on his Instagram Stories.

The two-time world champion's Instagram handle is @fernandoalo_oficial with most of it dedicated to his F1 career. But fans can also get insights into his other sporting passion: cycling. The star has shared several photos of himself partaking in the sport, as well as some shots of the bike itself.

Fans of Esteban Ocon can find him on @estebanocon and although he rarely posts about his personal life, he did recently share an insight into his 25th birthday celebrations, hanging out with girlfriend Elena Berri and fellow F1 drivers Lance Stroll and Mick Schumacher.

Out of all the drivers on the grid, it's perhaps Pierre Gasly, who posts from @pierregasly, who focuses most on his personal life. The French driver shares insights into his strict training regime, his interest in fashion, his holidays during time away from the sport and a recent trip to Disneyland Paris.

Yuki Tsunoda can be found posting from @yukitsunoda0511 and while most of his feed focuses on his professional career, he also shows a different side to the glitz and glamour, posting shots of him relaxing before a race or enjoying some downtime on a boat during the summer break.

Lance posts from @lance_stroll and keeps his feed focused on Formula 1. But fans can also see how much he loves winter sports, with the Canadian posting several photos and clips of himself skiing.

Unlike most drivers, Kimi Raikkonen, who posts from @kimimatiasraikkonen, has dedicated most of his feed to his other love: his family. The doting dad-of-two shares plenty of photos of his family, including insights into their holidays and home life – and for an extra sense of adorableness there's the occasional video of the young children watching their father race.

Antonio Giovinazzi is found at @antogiovinazzi99 and alongside action shots of himself racing, he posts several insights into his strict training regime, that has a focus on weight training. The Italian also shares his pride at his country's sporting achievements, sharing celebratory shots from the football team celebrating their Euros win as well as some of the country's Olympic athletes.

Although George Russell's Instagram feed, which is @georgerussell63, has some action shots, the British driver does show a more personal side to his F1 career, with frequent smiling photos from inside the paddock. He's also not afraid to let himself get starstruck, recently sharing a selfie with close friend Daniel Ricciardo.

Nicholas Latifi posts from @nicholaslatifi and fans can expect to see plenty of action shots from the driver. But he also shares several posts from his personal life, including his holiday in Mykonos over the summer, where he was accompanied by girlfriend Sandra Dziwiszek, as well as his Williams teammate George Russell and his girlfriend, Carmen Montero Mundt.

Mick Schumacher, the son of Michael Schumacher, can be found posting from @mickschumacher and has spoken about keeping his personal life private. This is reflected in his feed, which mostly consists of his professional career. However, fans can see him with his adorable pet dog, Angie, and to mark the release of documentary Schumacher, he posted a childhood photo of himself on holiday with his father.

Although Nikita's social media use has gotten him in trouble in the past, the Russian driver, who is found at @nikita_mazepin, is now mostly focusing on his F2 and F1 career. The star has also recently used his page to launch a fundraiser alongside Podarok Angelu and the Dobroshift Foundation, which will benefit children living with cerebral palsy.
