The former First Daughter couldn't hide her emotions as she was treated to a spectacular three-tiered cake, surprise visits from friends, and a special video message from her parents — George W. and Laura Bush – which she watched live on the air with tissues on hand that she later used to dab away tears.

"Jen, 40 years seems like an old age but it turns out it's not. You're going great. Laura and I love you. We're very proud of you. And we wish you and your sweet sissy Barbara a happy birthday," former President George said.
Laura added: "Hey, Jenna. Forty years ago today, your dad and I were thrilled to welcome two baby girls to the world. You and Barbara made us happy every day since. Happy birthday to you. We’re so so proud of you. Love you."

If that wasn't enough to pull on the heartstrings, Jenna received messages from her celebrity friends throughout the show, including Reese Witherspoon, Reba McEntire, and Garth Brooks. She was even serenaded by country music star Mickey Guyton.
Taking to Instagram following the emotional show, Jenna penned: "I am overwhelmed with love on the eve of my 40th. My @hodaandjenna and @todayshow peeps had me in tears all morning.
"They surprised me with a precious student, my besties @olive1019 and @wendywearstapleton and with my favorite, the brilliant light that is @mickeyguyton. As @hodakotb said: just receive it. And I do. Thank you all."
