Christina Aguilera has shared her "honor" at being named the first-ever Music Icon at the 2021 People's Choice Awards.

"It's an honor to receive the first-ever Music Icon award at this year's #PCAs! So excited to return to the awards stage and celebrate on December 7! " the singer shared on Instagram with fans.

It came hours after it was confirmed that the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter would be given the award for "her contributions to the music industry and her illustrious career".

The mom-of-two will also perform a medley of her biggest songs, culminating in music from her highly-anticipated new Spanish-language album, for fans watching.

Over a career spanning four decades, Christina has won five Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy Award - and is the only artist under the age of 30 to be included in Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

The 2021 People's Choice Awards nominations were announced in late October and there is good news for fans of 9-1-1, Law & Order, and Dancing with the Stars.

9-1-1 is up for best TV drama alongside Grey's Anatomy, Outer Banks, Cobra Kai, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Equalizer, The Walking Dead and This Is Us; star Angela Bassett is also nominated for best female drama star.

Prince Harry, 9-1-1 and Carre Underwood ar among the nominees

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah special is nominated for the best pop special of the year going up against the likes of Demi Lovato's documentary Dancing with the Devil and the Friends reunion.

Nominated films across various categories include Black Widow, F9: The Fast Saga, Dune, and No Time to Die.

Adele, Justin Bieber, Miranda Lambert, and Ed Sheeran are among the nominees in the music categories, and BTS, Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers all up for the Group of 2021 category. Britney Spears and Dwayne Johnson are among the nominees in the Social Star of 2021 category.

The 2021 People’s Choice Awards will air simultaneously on both NBC and E! on Tuesday, December 7 at 9:00pm ET/PT
