America's Got Talent star Skilyr Hicks has died at the age of 23.
The singer's mother, Jodi Hicks, confirmed the news on Facebook. Local police officers have alleged her cause of death is a suspected drug overdose. She was found by a friend in a home in Liberty, South Carolina.

Jodi told TMZ that her daughter suffered from both substance abuse and depression.
Skilyr appeared on the eighth season of the show in 2013 where she performed an original song for the show's judges Howard Stern, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel.

Her emotional background also saw her receive her own segment on the show; her father passed away a few years prior and she had taught herself how to play guitar and sing in memory of him.
The judges gave her a rave review and she received four yeses but was eliminated before the show's live rounds.
Skilyr appeared on the eighth season of the show in 2013
"My super beautiful, extremely talented, hilarious, free spirit of a sister left this world to be with Jesus," Breelyn, Skilyr' sister, wrote on Facebook.
"I can't possibly put into words how broken-hearted I am. I will miss her like crazy.
"I'll miss her voice, her long warm hugs, her constantly making jokes using puns. Her ability to create music that inspired thousands of people."
In 2018 Skilyr was arrested for underage drinking in Ohio, and she also ended up in a Georgia jail in April 2017 after being charged with domestic violence for allegedly assaulting three family members including her grandmother after returning home drunk.
