Jana Duggar charged with endangering the welfare of a child

It comes days after older brother Josh was found guilty of being in receipt of child pornography

Jana Duggar has pleaded not guilty after being charged with a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. Arkansas court records revealed that on 23 September the 31-year-old pleaded not guilty through an attorney.

The alleged violation took place on 9 September and a trial by judge is scheduled for 10 January. Arkansas law reveals that a charge of endangering the welfare of a child includes allegations that a defendant engaged “in conduct creating a substantial risk of serious harm to the physical or mental welfare of a person known by the actor to be a minor".

If found guilty she faces up to three months behind bars and a fine of up to $1,000.

The revelation comes day after her older brother Josh was found guilty of being in receipt of child pornography.

A jury spent around four hours deliberating before coming back with their verdict. The father-of-seven now awaits sentencing; he could be facing 20 years in prison with fines up to $250,000.

After a 2019 raid on his Arkansas car dealership, the former reality star willingly turned himself in on 29 April 2021.

Jana had pleaded not guilty

It was later confirmed through court documents that Josh had been arrested for “knowingly received child pornography" and "knowingly possessed material that contained images of child pornography,” including “images of minors under the age of 12" in May 2019.

He had pleaded not guilty.

The seven-day trial saw his wife Anna in attendance every day.

Anna welcomed their seventh child weeks before the trial

He was given ‘unlimited’ visitation with his kids during custody ahead of the trial although the court rules stipulated that wife Anna had to be in attendance as well. He was not allowed to see any other minors.

Josh is the eldest of 19; five of his youngest siblings are all under the age of 18.
