Another showed her talking with Toto Wolff, an Austrian motorsports executive, investor and former racing driver who holds a 33 pere cent stake in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.

In another, she beamed as Lewis Hamilton celebrated his win that day.

Unfortunately, Lewis lost Sunday's race but Carol still declared him a "champ" on Instagram and told her followers a "lovely story" about him.

"I'm a big @lewishamilton fan, always have been but my Mum Jean (who lived with me) was his biggest fan even when she was nearly 90!!!!" she began.

"Two years before she died I was a guest of @mercedesamgf1 at Silverstone. As an engineer I've been hanging around the F1 paddock for decades!!! Ha. Anyway I was chatting to Lewis's mum and our champ comes in.

"I told him that my Mum loved him and that she was having her 3rd CANCER OPERATION the following day. So he signed my paddock pass 'God Bless Jean. I hope your operation goes well.'

"So the following day Mum and I were in the hospital and I gave her the paddock pass. Mum was absolutely over the moon and it took her mind off the big operation ahead. She was smiling massively. She was in her hospital gown and put it round her head.

"The nurses came in to take her down to the operating theatre and asked her if she wanted to leave the pass back in the room and she said 'no thank you, Lewis is my lucky charm.'"

She continued: "She was safe....and whatever you think....to us Lewis Hamilton played his part in giving her happiness before something so huge. She lived for a few years after that operation and we laughed about it many times. So we love you @lewishamilton @cullen_angela #champ #thankyou."
