Reba McEntire celebrates major news amid heartbreaking loss

Reba McEntire is returning to the small screen after making a bold announcement about the future of her career. 

The singer and actress has just been named as a series regular in the third season of Big Sky.

Reba will play Sunny Brick, the matriarch of the Brick family and according to Deadline, her character is "a successful backcountry outfitter with a secret history of missing customers."

Big Sky was created by David E. Kelley and based on The Highway book series by C.J. Box.

The show follows two detectives who are investigating the kidnapping of sisters who went missing from a remote Montana highway. It soon develops into something much bigger.

Reba was a huge television hit during the 2000s when she starred in and executive produced her show, Reba, for six seasons.

Reba has a new TV role 

She's had several roles in shows since, including in Young Sheldon and Malibu Country, but a full time role in Big Sky will delight her fans. 

The news comes just days after she shared her sadness at the tragic loss of fellow country star, Naomi Judd. In a heartfelt post, she wrote: "We’ve been down the long road together.I sure miss my buddy.Rest In Peace. Finally.Love you Naomi."

Reba recently brought fans and famous friends to tears with her performance at the Oscars.

Reba recently paid tribute to Naomi Judd after her death 

She performed 'Somehow You Do' which was nominated for Best Original Song from the film Four Good Days, and written by 13-time Academy Award nominee Diane Warren.

Before the ceremony, Reba walked the red carpet in a green sequin gown by Dolce & Gabbana and was joined by Diane for pictures.

At the beginning of the year, Reba also returned to the stage with her tour, Reba in Concert which was a huge success. 

She dazzled, not only with her voice but with her appearance too as she showed off a series of fabulous outfits which fans couldn't get enough of.
