Matthew McConaughey celebrated Father's Day with his adorable family over the weekend and also paid tribute to his own late dad.
The star posted a photo of his rarely-seen family members including brothers, Pat and Rooster, and their late father, James.

In the image, Matthew looked so different with short, bleached hair as he placed a hand on his dad's shoulder and looked adoringly at him.

His siblings smiled too as they were captured in the natural-looking moment. The image was from many years ago as Matthew's dad sadly passed away in 1992.
He adored his father and revealed in his memoir, Greenlights, the unexpected way he died in an interview with Vanity Fair.

Matthew said: "I got a call from my Mom. 'Your dad died,'" he wrote. "My knees buckled. I couldn't believe it. He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him. Except for mom. He'd always told me and my brothers, 'Boys, when I go, I'm gonna be makin' love to your mother.' And that's what happened."

Matthew's parents - he remains incredibly close to his mother Kay - had a tumultuous relationship and married and divorced several times.
"They were divorced twice, married three times, I mean, yeah, it was like the Pacific Ocean in a storm," he added.

Matthew's own marriage is very different and he has been happily wed to model Camila Alves since 2012.
Matthew is a proud dad to his three children
They live in Austin, Texas with their children Levi, 13, Vida, 12, and Livingston, nine.
They moved away from Malibu, California to escape the limelight and couldn't be happier in their Texan home.
The family resides in a 10,800 square-foot Spanish-Mediterranean style mansion which boasts eight bathrooms, seven bedrooms, a guest house, and seven boat slips near the lake.
They live just a stone's throw from Matthew's mother and they revel in the nature that surrounds their abode.
