Shania Twain is one among the many in the entertainment industry mourning the loss of legendary Australian actress and musician Olivia Newton-John.

The singer took to her Instagram to share a throwback backstage photograph of them embracing, revealing she'd looked up to her as an inspiration.

She was heartbroken by the loss, sharing an emoji to that effect and writing: "This one hit hard." Shania continued: "Olivia inspired me with her voice, her strength and her spirit.
"I followed her career from the pop stuff to movies and country music - Please Mr. Please was on my childhood setlist! Thank you for sharing your talent with us all."

Many others shared their support and condolences in the comment section as well, with one fan writing: "She passed away, but through her music she'll remain immortal... Legends never die."
Another added: "The whole world is reeling from the loss of such a bright, kind woman, fly high ONJ," and a third said: "Our hearts are broken. Thank you for posting about her, Shania!"
Shania mourned the loss of Olivia on social media
Olivia's husband, John Easterling, announced the heartbreaking news that she had passed at the age of 73 alongside a photograph and an emotional statement.
It read: "Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

"Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.
"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation."
