Mariah Carey took to social media with an extra poignant tribute to her late father Alfred Roy Carey - and it is so sweet.

The Emotions singer, 52, shared a selection of photos of her and her two beautiful twins Moroccan and Monroe, sitting in a cherry red convertible car, alongside a touching message penned to her dad.

Captioning the post, the star wrote: "Happy Birthday to you my Father Alfred Roy Carey…The car you never got to finish is lovingly restored, complete with your spirit and my children… Sorry I never told you, all I wanted to say."

The fabulous motor was completed with an elegant tan interior and Mariah looked ever the superstar as she posed from inside the vehicle in glamorous sunglasses and holding the steering wheel.
Mariah shared the update on Instagram
Her daughters were also captured posing inside the special vehicle.
Friends and fans of the popstar flocked to the comments section of the special update. Paris Hilton replied with three red heart eyes emojis and Kris Jenner replied with three red love heart emojis.
There were copious amounts of sunflower emojis amongst the comments which refer to an emotional song Mariah wrote for her father, titled Sunflowers for Alfred Roy, which she released in 2002 after he passed away from cancer.

The first lyrics in the song are: "Now you're shining, now you're shining. Shining like a sunflower up in the sky…"
Followers were keen to recognise the sunflower as a special tribute to Roy with one writing: "BEAUTIFUL!! I love that you finished his car too. He's forever looking over you with all the love and pride! Sunflowers for Alfred Roy Carey FOREVER," alongside three love sunflower emojis.
A second added: "Happy heavenly birthday to the king who raised a queen. Sunflowers for Alfred Roy [sunflower emoji], lots of love to you Mariah," alongside a yellow love heart emoji.
