The two have been showing off their hosting chemistry ahead of the exciting awards, and though they appear to be best buds, it seems Peyton's participation wasn't exactly voluntary.

During an appearance on Good Morning America to give viewers a sneak peek at what they can expect from the big country music night, the hosts revealed the bet the former football player lost, and subsequently made him a co-host.

ABC's Will Reeve met with the two down in Nashville, Tennessee, where he explained that after several years of friendship, Peyton and the country singer's friendship was facing "the highest stakes test yet," as they co-host.

When asked how the idea of the two hosting together came about, the football Hall of Famer was quick to confess: "Well, Luke bet me on the Tennessee v. Georgia game, he said, 'If Georgia beats Tennessee you have to co-host,' so, I just found out."

His confession prompted immediate laughter and cheer from his betting opponent, who proceeded to praise their hosting chemistry.

The two have been planning to give the best show yet

"We have some history together, I think it's going to be loose, and that's the cool thing about Peyton, is he has always been a natural lover of country music and I think certainly that's why it's going to work," he said.

Giving further insight into the men's behind-the-scenes banter, Will later added: "Luke was giving Peyton a really hard time over his Georgia Bulldogs beating the Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend in college football, so they clearly have a big bond going on. It's going to be so much fun tonight to see those two… It's going to be an absolute party tonight."
