Lara Spencer is all about a big household, and when it comes to her family members, she considers her pets just as part of the family as her children.

The Good Morning America star has two children from her previous marriage to David Haffenreffer, Katharine Paige, 18, and Duff, 20, though in her heart, she really has five children.
She is not shy about her love for pets, and maintains that she considers her three dogs, Riva, Coco, and Dandy, her other children as well.

In a sweet post shedding light on pet adoption, Lara opened up about how much dog rescue organizations mean to her, particularly the one that changed her family's life, where she adopted her three dogs.
In the post, in which she shared an adorable photo of one of her dogs, Riva, she wrote: "Great cause and cute pup alert!! As you might guess from my posts--my dogs are my other children. Truly."
The news anchor joked: "I say I have five kids. 3 are just a little hairier than the oldest 2," adding that: "My fur babies were all adopted [thru] the most incredible rescue organization---North Shore Animal League America."
Her dogs always make sweet appearances on her social media
Shedding light on the possibility for fans to also adopt a dog through them, she announced: "Tonight is their big year end celebration and while Riva and I won't be able to make it in person, we'll be watching virtually and YOU CAN TOO!"

Encouraging fans to join as well and hopefully adopt a new pet, she endearingly added: "They have the most amazing cats and dogs that need YOU as much as you need them," alongside a dog and red heart emoji.
Lara is a longtime advocate for animal welfare
It's not the first time Lara takes to Instagram to highlight the organization's incredible efforts in hopes of getting all of their pets a new home, and fans were quick to commend her for the reminder.
They took to her comments section and wrote: "Thank you for always supporting Animal League America! Extra treats for all!" and: "Adopting pets - the BEST!!! I feel they rescue us!" plus sweet Riva also received loads of compliments, with fans writing: "Riva has become a Beloved TV Star!" and: "I just love Riva's beautiful face."
