Savannah Guthrie is one of the main co-anchors on Today and has a close relationship with her colleagues both on and off air.
The mother-of-two has been making sure to show her support towards her good friend and co-star, Al Roker, over the past few months during his difficult health battle.

Along with Hoda Kotb, Dylan Dreyer and the rest of the Today family, Savannah went to surprise Al outside his home in New York City last week, and afterwards shared a heartfelt update on her friend on Instagram.

Alongside footage of an overwhelmed Al stepping outside his home to take in the surprise, Savannah wrote: "He is so loved."
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: "I cried," while another wrote: "Why am I sobbing about this?" A third added: "This was so special."

It's been a particularly hard time for Al, who not only has been recovering after having blood clots on his lungs, but faced the devastating news that his sister Patricia had passed away shortly after he was discharged from hospital.
Savannah said Al is so loved
Luckily, the dad-of-three is recovering well at home and what's more, his entire family are back together.
Over the weekend, Al's youngest child, son Nick, returned home from college, and helped his family decorate the Christmas tree.

Al was feeling well enough to decorate the tree with his daughter Leila too, sharing a heartfelt update on his Instagram account.
Al is currently recovering at home with his wife Deborah Roberts
"So thankful to be well enough to decorate the Roker Family #christmastree," he wrote.
The 68-year-old TV star, who has been a part of Today for over 25 years, was admitted to the hospital shortly after Thanksgiving due to blood clots and remained hospitalized for over two weeks.
