They came from as far away as Australia and America and the isle of Mustique. They brought tuxedos and elegant evening gowns and their dancing shoes. And did they dance.
The 120 close friends and family who attended the August 4 wedding of Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith saw more then an extraordinary celebration of love and togetherness. Staying at 13th-century Ashford Castle in beautiful County Mayo and witnessing the wedding in an historic Irish abbey, the wedding guests participated in a homecoming, a reunion of family and a renewing of tradition.
“Before Keely walked down that aisle towards him, he was just being Pierce, interacting with the people he knew in the church,” said his mother May Carmichael. “But when he saw her standing there, he almost crumpled a little bit - you could just see what they mean to each other. It was a wonderful moment.”
