Jeremy Renner to give first interview since accident that left him in 'critical condition'

Jeremy Renner has been quiet since a snowplow accident that left him in a critical condition, but he will now be opening up to Diane Sawyer about what happened

It was a shocking start to the year for Jeremy Renner who was badly injured in a snowplow accident that left him 30 broken bones and chest trauma, among other injuries.

The Marvel star has remained relatively quiet about the January 1 accident, beyond sharing a few updates with his fans, but he has now spoken with legendary journalist Diane Sawyer about the incident. The Hollywood actor, 52, revealed that it happened as he attempted to stop his nephew from being run over by the snowplow after the emergency break wasn't fully applied.

Despite the injuries sustained, Jeremy made it clear that he would "do it again" if a family member was in danger and revealed that he was "awake" for every moment of the accident, remembering the searing pain.

In a defiant moment, he said: "I chose to survive. You're not going to kill me. No way."

The news special, which will air on April 6, will not only feature the Diane Sawyer interview but it will also focus on the Hawkeye actor's recovery.

It will also include interviews with his family members who were also impacted by the accident, including the nephew that he saved as well as audio from the frantic 9-1-1 calls made following the incident.

The one-off special, Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph, comes at a poignant time for the Hollywood veteran.

A week after it airs, Jeremy will be walking the red carpet for the first time since the accident as his Disney+ series Rennervations is set to premiere.

The four-episode series sees the 52-year-old reimagine purpose-built vehicles into different creations, including turning a tour bus into mobile music studio.
