Nashville resident Melissa Joan Hart and her family are safe and sound after Monday's horrific shooting which claimed six lives. But the Sabrina the Teenage Witch actress and her husband, Mark Wilkerson, had a close-up view of the tragedy's aftermath, and came to the aid of students escaping the massacre, she explained via Instagram Tuesday.

"My kids go to school right next to the school where there was a shooting today," Melissa, 46, told her followers in the emotional video, explaining that this wasn't even the first time her family has been part of a community affected by a school shooting.  "We moved here from Connecticut, where we were in a school a little ways down from Sandy Hook, so this is our second experience with a school shooting with our kids being in close proximity." (The Sandy Hook shooting in 2012 in Newtown, Conn. claimed 26 lives.)

While Melissa and Mark's three sons — Mason, 17, Braydon, 15, and Tucker, 10 — weren't at school on Monday, the couple of 20 years were headed to parent-teacher conferences when they encountered young kids retreating from the melee at the Covenant School.

"We helped a class of kindergarteners across a busy highway that were climbing out of the woods and were trying to escape the shooter situation at their school," the former Clarissa Explains It All star said tearfully. "We helped all these tiny little kids cross the road and get their teachers over there, and we helped a mom reunite with her children."

The former child star, who continues to act as well as direct, added in her caption: "Prayers today, Action tomorrow. This was too raw to post yesterday but wanted you to hear this story."
