Lainey Wilson is gearing up for a big night on Sunday as she is nominated for four CMT Music Awards at the 2023 ceremony in Austin, Texas.

The country music singer, who recently revealed some unexpected plans for her future, has enjoyed an incredibly successful 12 months, and thankfully has found a supportive network to lean on when she feels like she is having a "mental breakdown".

"If I'm like, 'What do you do in a situation like this?', or, 'Man, I just want to cry'… it's nice to have those kinds of people in your corner," she added.

"Because at the end of the day, this is a very unique position to be in. And there are only a few people who can really understand the good feelings and the bad feelings.

"So, I'm lucky to have those women in my life that I can go to and people who I've looked up to for years, now they're just some of my peers, it's wild."

Lainey also discussed the assumption that the country music community is a friendly, tight-night group, revealing that sometimes the competitiveness of the industry can bring out some "rotten eggs".

"Some of them are really good actors," she told us. "I mean you can still tell there's a competitive spirit.

"But for the most part, when people know that you have paid your dues, and they know you have been working your fingers to the bone for years, it's kind of like they got no reason to not cheer you on."

"But for the most part, when people know that you have paid your dues, and they know you have been working your fingers to the bone for years, it's kind of like they got no reason to not cheer you on."

She explained: "I will say, there's a lot of folks who just move to town and get deals and pass you up left and right, but I feel like the ones they genuinely cheer for are the ones that started at the very, very bottom.

"Everybody's story is different and unique in their own way. But for the most part, it is a big old family. But no matter what, like even in your own families, you're gonna have at least one or two rotten eggs."

The 2023 CMT Music Awards will air live from Austin, Texas' Moody Center on Sunday, April 2, on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
