Ed Sheeran's music is known worldwide, but the pop-folk singer-songwriter chooses to keep his personal life far more private.
With that being said, as someone who draws from his own life to inspire his music, The A Team artist has sometimes opened up about how his wife Cherry Seaborn has inspired his work.
For example, in March 2023, Ed announced his album subtract would heavily draw from the difficult period of time when his wife was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with their second child.

Rumors that the Lego House singer – who wrote his 2017 hit 'Perfect' about his then-girlfriend – was already secretly married Cherry existed prior to the date of their actual marriage. This was because some fans believed the couple had already tied the knot owing to Ed being seen wearing a ring in mid-2018.

What is Ed Sheeran's wife's health issue?
While announcing the release of his fifth album, Subtract, on March 1, Ed also revealed that his wife Cherry was diagnosed with a tumour while she was pregnant with their second child, Jupiter.
In an Instagram post, Ed detailed how he had scrapped the album he was working on to rewrite it in a week due to various devastating life events. "Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth," he explained.
He continued: "My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.

"For the first time, I'm not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life," he finished. Ed's album announcement didn't give any more details on Cherry's current condition, and he has yet to make another public statement on the subject of her health.
Seeing as the pair welcomed their second child in May 2022, here's hoping Cherry has now been able to undergo the treatment needed for a full recovery from her tumour.

Marital rumours
In 2023, Ed sparked concerns when he hinted at marital issues on his seventh album, Autumn Variations, released in September.
On the track Punchline, Ed appeared to recall how their romance hit a rocky patch, with the lyrics hinting that they "may have called time on their relationship".
"I can't help but be destructive right now. It's been weeks since I saw your outline," the lyrics read. "In my room is a silence so loud. This is what losing hope might sound like."
The song continued: "I can't help it but I love you so. I can’t take this letting go. I still feel like we could work it out or something. All I am is only flesh and bone. Why’s your heart so freezing cold?"
However, a short while later, Ed rubbished the rumours by sharing an Instagram of the couple during a dinner date.
