Malia Obama is ready to make her mark on the world and step out from the shadows of her parents, Michelle and Barack Obama.
The 21-year-old will be making her directorial debut later in the year, with a film that will be produced by Donald Glover's Gigla company. Details about the project are being kept under wraps, but Donald confirmed the news in an interview with GQ as he covered the publication's latest issue.
The Community star revealed Malia's involvement in the upcoming project by revealing the warning he gave her, sharing: "The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once. You're [Barack] Obama's daughter. So if you make a bad film, it will follow you around."
Malia is no stranger to the entertainment world and has worked with Donald on his Swarm series, which follows a murderous woman's obsession with a pop star, even co-writing the program's fifth episode.

One of her co-writers praised her work on the series last month in an interview with Entertainment Today, saying that her ideas "were just so good and so funny" and that she is an "incredible writer."
The Obamas are an incredibly close-knit family, and Barack and Michelle will no doubt be supporting their daughter in her latest venture.
Last year, the former US President was seen having dinner with his two daughters at Hamasaku, an expensive LA sushi restaurant.
While Barack had a great time visiting, Michelle couldn't be with them, as she was in New York at the same time being inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.

The three were spotted together exiting a restaurant as Barack waved to the staffers and turned down their offer for free dessert after.
His secret service staff patiently waited, with their car parked nearby for the next couple of hours, and escorted him away once done.
