Chris Pratt has given an insight into his mental health battles, revealing how his Christian faith and falling in love with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger dragged him out of a dark place.
The Super Mario star, 43, told Drew Barrymore he was "really struggling and felt really broken" following his divorce from Anna Faris in 2018. He met Katherine, 33 – who is the eldest daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger the same year.
They were married after a whirlwind five-month courtship on June 8, 2019, in Montecito, California, and the adorable couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Avengers: Endgame in April 2019.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Chris, recounted: "There was a moment in my life that I was really struggling and felt really broken.
"For me, [it was] my own journey finding a higher power and leaning on that and feeling like, 'Please save me,' and feeling saved. And then shortly later, [I met] the woman of my dreams."
Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris, who shares daughters, Lyla Maria, two, and one-year-old Eloise Christina with Katherine – he also has a son, Jack, 10, from his marriage to Anna – met Katherine at a church and quipped how it felt icky to check her out in a place of worship.
"I was in the front row of church – which is like, you kind of don't want to be like, 'Whoa, who's that?' at church," he joked. "But I was sneaking some glances and I'm wondering, 'Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on, I'm broken, help me. But who's that?'"
He said they didn't start dating right away but hit it off, adding, "God has a fast-forward button, you know? When it’s right – boom – you’re hit. You fall in love, you get married."

When Chris and Anna announced their separation in Aug 2017 after eight years of marriage, it sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Anna, who married cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2021, once said her "hand was forced" in the divorce, but recently revealed she is "getting much closer" with her ex and Katherine.
The former couple agreed to live within five miles of each other for their son Jack, who was born seven weeks prematurely and weighed only 3 lbs, 10 oz. at birth. He fully recovered and the blended families remain close, spending time together on multiple occasions.
