The couple, who have been married since 1996, were also joined by their eldest children, Megan, 24, twins Jack and Holly, 23, and Tilly, 21. They are also doting parents to their youngest Oscar, who turned four this week.

"Thank you very [explicit] much," Gordon told GQ after his win, "I'm so stoked. Does that mean I'm getting old, though?"

On how he would like to celebrate, the dad-of-five said: "God, I think I'd go to Tamarind for a curry. But I kid you not, if I could jump in a helicopter after picking up the 'Old Man's Lifetime Achievement Award,' I'd fly the whole family up to Khai Khai in Newcastle.

"And eat my curry on the [explicit] Tyne. The last time I tasted authentic Indian cuisine like that, I was in the middle of Bangladesh."

It was definitely a family celebration as they happily posed for pictures on the night – however, Gordon revealed his loved ones are his biggest critics.

"I'd say my girls Tilly, Holly and Megan. I'm so proud of them, but [explicit] me… 21, 23 and 24. They have no problem putting me in my place," he said.

Asked whether his children will follow in his footsteps, Gordon replied: "No, they needed to find their passion, and I couldn't be prouder knowing that they have. I suppose my son Oscar is my last hope of having a chef in the family. I've started putting him to bed with a [explicit] whisk and a ladle."
