S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has died aged 46, BBC has announced. The news broke on Friday, just a few weeks after the band announced their comeback tour.
The band released a statement on Twitter which read: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.
"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time." His cause of death has not yet been shared.
Rylan Clark-Neal responded, writing: "Sending all the love to you all," while Benjamin Butterworth: "This is a tragedy. A whole generation of us loved S Club 7, and all seven of them. RIP Paul Cattermole."
Fans were equally shocked, with one writing: "Oh gosh. Heartbreaking news about Paul Cattermole. Thoughts go out to his friends, family and the rest of S Club 7 at such a sad time. 46 is no age at all." Another person added: "Oh no, this is so sad. S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has died, aged 46. S Club 7 were just about to embark on their comeback tour. Now the reunion tour is gonna be tinged with so much sadness. Heart goes out all his friends and family."
